Troubleshooting
Now what if you are working your home business, and you aren’t seeing results? What could cause this, and just as importantly, what do you do to fix it? Well, first of all, realize that you need to allow your business to build momentum. You deserve to understand that success is not an event, but a process. But what if you have actively been working your home business techniques at least 3 months, 6 months, a year, or more, and you are still not seeing results? Well, chances are, you are missing one or more of three key factors in your business:
- You are not doing income producing activities.
- You are not effectively ESTABLISHING TRUST with your prospective customers.
- You have not found a product or service that is in demand.
Let’s look each of these one by one….
Possibility #1: You are not doing income producing activities.
Your are your own boss, and it is up to you to make sure that things are getting done. However, what you’re spending your time on may not be what needs to be done. The transformation to home business is not easy for some, while others seem to hit the ground in full stride. Neither has an advantage if they are not doing income activities. Let’s look at how you approach your home business with these questions…
- What do you do when you sit down to to work on your home business?
- How much time each week do you dedicate to your home business?
- Do you give your business undivided attention?
Now I don’t want you to answer them now; that is part of your action assignment coming up. But what I do want you to do is begin to journal everything you do with your day. Notate everything from the time you sit down to the time you stop working. Write down exactly what you did and be sure to show breaks and interruptions.
You might just be amazed at what you see.
Possibility #2: You are not effectively establishing trust with your prospective customers.
Now this is a BIG one. If you can’t help your clients trust you, if they don’t believe you have their best interest at heart, they will not buy from you- period, end of story. Trust comes from familiarity, and from frequent and regular contact. Frequent and regular contact – as in communicating regularly with your prospective customer through auto responders, emails, phone calls and so on. This frequency will build trust, it will help your prospect decide if you can be trusted, if you are truly out to serve them. If you aren’t genuine, it’s going to come through.
I don’t care how many times you talk to your prospect on the phone or how many emails you send them if you’ve got dollar signs in your eyes every time you communicate with them. They will sense it. So, take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are doing what you are doing.
With that said, be in regular contact with your customers and your customers to be. Always lead with value and excellence, and always deliver on your commitments. They will purchase from you when the time is right for them. The right time could be tomorrow, it could be next week, or it could be six months or a year down the road. You just don’t know.
Statistics show that 80% of individuals who opt in to get information on a particular product or service…ANY product or service, will take action and actually purchase that which they were researching within the course of 12 months. This is great news! Because it means that when you’ve got them in your marketing funnel, you simply need to make enough of an impression on them and establish enough trust for them to come back to you when the time is right… And this leads us to our final point.
Possibility #3: Finding Products or Services that are in demand.
They say the easiest way to make money is to take something you love to do and market it. I don’t know who “they are”, but they are wrong. You can have the best marketing in the world, and if what you are selling has no demand, your business is going to suffer.
When you’re selling a high demand product or service – and all of the other parts of your sales funnel come together, that’s when you’re going to really see your business take off like a rocket. Why? Well, think about it…Would you market cosmetics to men, or sell luxury travel in tough economic times?
Yes, you can market lower demand products or services, absolutely, but building your business becomes a whole lot easier, more enjoyable, and profitable when you are able to identify your selling what people are looking to buy.
So what will you be selling? That is something that you’ll need to discover for yourself. Your products and or services can be determined by geographical location, religious persuasion, ethnic background, profession, Etc.
The best way to discover this? it’s simple…ask. Find out what people NEED first, then market to that need.
Summing It Up
So with that, I am going to wrap up today’s lesson. If you aren’t getting the results that you desire from your home business, then think about which one of the three points that I’ve covered here most applies to your situation…maybe they all do:
- Maybe you aren’t doing the required income producing activities
- Maybe you aren’t effectively building trust with your customers through frequent and genuine communication.
- Maybe you don’t have a product that is in demand.
