You can study the ins and outs of home business, but not surrounding yourself with great mentors in business and in life…

Well – you may as well admit yourself to the school of hard knocks.

So having said that – lets take a moment to talk about what a great mentor should mean to you!

A Great Mentor is Someone That:

  • Always challenges you to look at what you are REALLY capable of accomplishing
  • Provides you with encouragement even when your are ready to quit
  • Helps you to learn from their mistakes, to cut your learning curve down
  • Has been in your shoes and knows what it takes to complete the journey
  • Never loses faith in you, even when you have lost it in yourself
  • Cultivates the person you are, into the greatness you have
  • Is completely trusted, relied upon, and lives a life of integrity

How To Become The Leader

It was through my teachings from my various mentors and listening to their expert advice that I was able to identify my struggles in business. And it was from this education that I discovered the areas in which I needed to produce better results, but more importantly… how to achieve those results FAST!

No matter which mentor, whether it has been Gregg, John, Michael, David, Ed or Andy, they have all made a profound impact on me in their own way. They all taught me how to focus on the solution rather then think about the problem. I learned how to stop planning to be the strong, confident, uncompromising leader I was born to be, and simply became that leader.

Make no mistake, this has been an incredible personal growth process for me that I am happy to continue with to this day. And I have no doubt that this will be a journey that I will continue for some time. It is a process where I have learned to not always agree with everyone, but to stop worrying about their feelings toward me. And in doing so, I have become comfortable expressing to others not only what I want, but quite frankly what I expect of them as well.

It is important for you to know that none of these mentors did any of work for me, they only walked the path with me. They never told me what path to take, only offering experience from their own travels. They always did as great mentors do: when I reached goals, no matter how big or small, I would look to give them credit – they would simply respond “No Matthew…it was YOU.”

You see, great mentors not only empower, but they encourage you to never let go of what you always believed in your heart that you could achieve. But as you are acknowledged for you accomplishments, they will refuse the take any of the credit, giving it all to YOU!

Do YOU Have a Great Mentor?

Who will you go to tomorrow when you need a little push? Those days when things just aren’t going your way and you’re ready to throw in the towel…will you have someone to reinforce that you’re going to make it?

Who will challenge you and encourage you to grow as a person and a leader?  A mentor is that one thing you need to reach that pinnacle in your business, that AH-HA moment that you’re looking for…after which everything else just falls into place.

Maybe I’m that mentor…Maybe.

In Lesson 7, we bring it all together with the “3rd Critical Aspect” of home business, thus completing the foundation for your success.
